Investigators in Indiana are continuing the search for an 11-month-girl who has not been seen in several days.

The circumstances of Mercedes Lain’s disappearance from Plymouth remains shrouded in mystery after police took three suspects into custody earlier this week: Her parents Kenneth Lain and Tiffany Coburn, and Jason Lee Miller, the man she police said the baby was with in a Silver Alert issued this weekend.

Miller, 37, was apprehended on Monday, but Mercedes was not with him. As previously reported, he is said to have been babysitting the child. Miller and both Mercedes’ parents are charged with child neglect.

According to WSBT, police say they have interviewed all three suspects and their stories are not adding up. The report does not include any further details about what Miller, Lain, and Coburn have told police.

It is unclear at this time if investigators police Mercedes was a victim of foul play or any further crimes beyond child neglect. Authorities, including the FBI, are continuing a search for the child and the investigation remains active.

As WSBT reports, police said on Wednesday that Mercedes first went missing from an Economy Inn in Plymouth. But she was seen again in Mishawaka on Saturday. As previously reported, Mercedes’ father reported her missing on Sunday, but it is not clear who reported her missing on Thursday, or why she was at a hotel.

According to the report, police have denied internet rumors that Mercedes has been found.
