Federal investigators completed a third day of searching Thursday in connection with the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, a 35-year-old Kentucky mom who vanished in 2015, and released a statement saying it would keep searching “for as long as it takes.”

The FBI, which took over the case a year ago, narrowed its focus to s specific property in Bardstown’s Woodlawn Springs neighborhood — one of three in the subdivision owned by Brooks Houck, Rogers’ boyfriend at the time she disappeared, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

“As our latest search related to the disappearance of Crystal Rogers continue on the third day, FBI Louisville investigators are focused on finding any evidence that will shed light on what happened to Crystal,” the FBI statement said. “While we do not have a timeline in regards to when the search will conclude, we will continue our efforts for as long as it takes. We appreciate the community’s support, particularly the residents of the Woodlawn Springs subdivision. FBI Louisville also wants to thank the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office for all their assistance.”

WLKY reported that investigators have kept observers, including media, from the location where they’re working, but neighbors said they have dug a four-foot hole in the driveway of one particular property.

Rogers’ family was initially told the search would take a day, the station reported, but they’ve grown cautiously hopeful as the search continued this week.

“It’s making me feel like maybe there’s something there and I don’t want to misread what they’re telling me, but at the same I’m going to keep my faith and hope this is it,” Rogers’ mother, Sherry Ballard, said. Ballard said agents are keeping her informed as the investigation continues.

Rogers was living in Bardstown when she was reported missing in July 2015. Her car was later found on Bluegrass Parkway, with personal items like her purse and phone inside. Houck is the only person named as a suspect in the disappearance, but he has never been charged.

Rogers had five children, one with Houck.
